Here are a few of my favorite mysteries.

You cannot go wrong with one of Craig Johnson's Longmire mysteries. I picked Junkyard Dogs as my favorite becuase of the humor. The opening scene is priceless!

Any Other Name blends an entertaining story with a serious subject and does it well.

Dark Horse has a clever plot, the horse is cool too.

Time's Witness takes on the death penalty, is beautifully written, and has a good mystery too
I also enjoyed Uncivil Seasons and First Lady by Michael Malone.

Gentlemen and Players has an inrecibly clever plot excellently written.

Oh my, Lindsay Faye can write! Great characters, lots of historical detail, and a plot that is dead clever. All the myseteries in this series are brilliant.

The plot moves from current day back to WWII, brilliant mystery.

An edge of your seat thriller with great characters.

Set after WWII in Istanbul, great characters, lots of moral ambiguity.

The portrayal of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina is wrenching.

Interesting look at China, the main character is easy to like, and lots of historical detail.

Lots of historical detail and a very clever plot.

All of the Maisie Dobbs series are good, this is my favorite.

All of the Joe Sandilands series are good, this is my favortire.
PD James use of language and intricate plots are engrossing.
