I was surprised at how quickly this story drew me in and engaged me. While there are villains, the main characters carry the story and they are richly complex. These are guys who want to be good men but find they are often faced with the absolute necessity of doing harm in the service of a greater good. It starts with a gruesome murder in New York, moves back in time to Paris, travels to Turkey and hits a few more stops along the way. The plot takes twists and turns that keep the reader guessing to the very end.
