Flashman in the Great Game by George
MacDonald Fraser is a fictional account of the Indian uprising of 1857.  Flashman is sent off to India to sweet talk
the Rani of Jhansi into seeing things the way the British prefer.  He is delighted to find the Rani young,
beautiful and feisty.  Of course things
go awry, Thugs come looking to put an end to handsome Harry.  He zips off to Meerut thinking it will be a
safe place to lie low for a while.
Instead of finding a safe haven, he has jumped right into the fire.  Meerut erupts into a bloody maelstrom as the
mutiny begins.  Flashman is on hand for
the siege of Cawnpore, the siege of Lucknow, and gets himself thrown into the
Gwalior dungeon. They are not politically correct, using humor and satire to
make their points.
