Heather Barbieri will give a presentation on her latest book, The Cottage At Glass Beach at 5:00 PM July 14th. The story has something for everyone, a bit of mystery, a love story, and a legend.  Set on Burke Island in Maine where Irish folklore tells of selkies becoming dutiful wives.  Nora was born on the island, but her father moved her to Boston after the disappearance of her mother.  Now at 40 she is returning to the island wounded of spirit and weary.  Nora’s faithless husband is involved in scandal; she is taking her two daughters away from the crisis her life has become, returning to an earlier home and a quieter place, the cottage on Burke Island.  Nora’s Aunt Anne Marie has invited her niece to stay and lick her wounds away from the public notoriety of her wayward husband.   Here on the island she will discover her roots and come to terms with her future.
