Deon's Mystery Top Ten 2011
Mystery had a great year in books. Starting with Craig Johnson’s Hell is Empty. You have to admire an author who will model his story on Dante’s Inferno. It takes courage. The Walt Longmire series is one of my favorites and Hell is Empty is my choice for #1 of 2011. Red on Red by Edward Conlon is an intriguing character driven mystery. I hope we hear more from Mr. Conlon, the man can write! The Terror of Living by Urban Waite has a Northwestern setting in the rugged North Cascades Mountains. If you want to be scared witless, try Jo Nesbo’s Snowman. If you like a little humor with your mayhem, Killed At The Whim Of A Hat by Colin Cotterill has an exotic setting in Southern Thailand and a touch of whimsy along with an interesting mystery. There were many good choices in Mystery this year.
