Robin Cody
Robin Cody grew up in Oregon, was educated at Yale, taught at the American School of Paris in France and was Dean of Admissions at Reed College. His roots in the northwest go deep; his life has been heavily influenced by rivers. His family were loggers, making a living up and down the rivers. Robin's father had a passionate love of fishing and the rivers. He would take his young son, Robin, on annual wild rides over the Columbia Bar in his small fishing boat. Robin uses his rich Oregon heritage in his books. Voyage of a Summer Sun is the story of Robin's 1200 mile canoe trip from the headlands of the Columbia River to the sea. It is a fascinating and intimate look at the Columbia River. Cody's style of writing is so engaging it feels like he sat you down in the canoe and took you along with him, traveling on the majestic Columbia River. Voyage of a Summer Sun won both the PNBA and the Oregon Book Award. Ricochet River takes place in a fictional small logging town in Oregon along a river. It is the coming of age story of two young men, Wade the local jock, programmed to succeed in life, and Jesse a Native American with natural athletic ability and a wild zest for life.
