Jane Kirkpatrick
Jane Kirkpatrick writes historical fiction about the northwest featuring strong women. She bases her stories on real women, doing a prodigious amount of research to keep her books historically accurate. Reading one of Jane's books is like taking a step backward in time to see trees that it would take two men to circle, forests stretching forever, and plains untouched by development. It is a fascinating way to look at the bold folk who crossed the country and settled the Pacific Northwest. When exploration and westward settlement is discussed, usually the men are the adventures, but there were independent, bright, tenacious women who helped settle the west. Jane gives them a voice. On top of being an excellent voice for historical women, Jane is a bright, compassionate, friendly person too. We have been fortunate to have presentations by Jane Kirkpatrick at Sunriver Books & Music in the past and are looking forward to many more in the future!
